Ministry
Phillipians 2:3-7 |
Provides support to ensure that the
clerical and administrative needs of the church are met. This ministry
serves as unto the Lord and fulfills their assigned duties and responsibilities
at the highest level of personal integrity and professional standards. |
Armor Bearers Ministry
1 Samuel 16:21 |
Servants to church leadership. They
suport those who have been called to lead by helping their God-given
visions come to pass. The Pastor appoints spiritually mature disciples
to this ministry. |
Baptismal
Ministry Team
Act 2:38-41 |
Serves to ensure that baptismal candidates fully
understand and accept the meaning of salvation and baptism prior
to the baptism service. The Pastor appoints spiritually mature disciples
to this ministry. |
Body and Soul Ministry |
Wellness program designed to help SSBC members
take control of their health. The program presents choice meals
and exercises to the congregation and gives members insight on why
good nutrition is important for them. Body and Soul gives counseling
advice that helps members take control over their own health and
realize that change is possible. |
Bookstore Ministry
Ephesians 4:12 |
The SSBC Christian Life Bookstore’s primary purpose
is providing religious materials as a convenience to the staff and
members of the church assisting them in their personal walk with
the Lord. The Bookstore operation assists SSBC in the furtherance
of its “Equipping” ministry purpose. The Bookstore’s operations
are not commercial in nature and publicity to the general public
is not emphasized. |
Cancer Support Ministry
Isaiah 53:5 |
Through God’s direction, the Cancer Support Ministry
encourages, prays, comforts and supports persons diagnosed with
cancer, and their loved ones. The goal of this ministry is to provide
education on the various kinds of cancers, treatment and prevention,
as well as the importance of doctor’s visits and annual examinations.
We solicit the expertise of professionals in the field to come in
to speak with the Ministry and encourage personal testimonies of
faith and survival. We go door to door in the community distributing
flyers and informing the community of the support available at SSBC.
The Ministry’s efforts focus on the importance of witnessing to
those who have cancer and have not accepted Jesus as their Savior
and Lord. |

choirs provide worshipful music that prepares the heart of the congregation
for receiving the Word of God.

Christian Education Ministry
Hosea 4:6 |
At SSBC we believe that Christian Education is
the communication of the Gospel through formal and informal educational
programs. The systemic study of scripture assists the saints in
building a strong biblical foundation that enhances their personal
faith in Christ and growth towards spiritual maturity. |
Culinary Ministry

This ministry is responsible for planning and coordinating
all meals served on church grounds, as well as overseeing the use
of the church kitchen.

Dance Ministry

At SSBC we praise God in many ways. The SSBC Dance
Ministry displays worship and praise in the form of dance that honors
God and ministers to the congregation. “Praise him with the timbrel

Deacon/Deaconess Ministry
Acts 6:1-7 |
At SSBC the deacon's principle function is to glorify
God by supporting the purpose and work of God in and through the
church. The general mission of a deacon is to carry out those administrative
and ministry needs that free the Pastor, elders and ministerial
staff to giving their full attention to praying, teaching, preaching,
equipping and giving oversight to leadership and shepherding matters
of the body. The Pastor appoints spiritually mature disciples to
this ministry. |
Dramatic Witness Ministry
I Corinthians 9:22 |
The purpose of this ministry is to educate, inform
and inspire believers and unbelievers, alike, of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, through drama. The Dramatic Witness Ministry of SSBC is
a tool to bridge the generational gap by incorporating the participation
of all ages. |
Emergency Assessment Team (Nurses)

The caring members of the SSBC Emergency Assessment
Team give medical assistance to church members and visitors during
worship services and other church related activities or sponsored
functions. |
Evangelism Ministry

The purpose of Evangelism at SSBC is to glorify
God by helping every believer effectively and faithfully participate
with Christ in sharing the gospel by lifestyle and word in our community
and the world. |

At SSBC Girl Scouting inspires girls to the highest
ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service so that they
become happy and resourceful citizens. |
Hospitality Ministry

The SSBC Hospital Ministry not only greets guests
and members with a friendly, warm and helpful greeting, they also
organize and serve at church-wide receptions and social events when
needed. Ministering to SSBC members and guests when various needs
and special occasions arise. |
Intercessory Prayer Ministry

Prayer is considered to be one of the most important
ministries of SSBC. No ministry will be effective unless it is bathed
in prayer! Every Church member is encouraged to be an intercessory
prayer warrior.

Kingdom Building
Bible Institute (KBBI)

SSBC KBBI exists to nurture and equip men and women
to do the work of the ministry. The school accepts those students
who have the desire to know more about the Bible. We believe that
each Christian is called to minister in some capacity. Since a working
knowledge of the scriptures is necessary to fulfill the Great Commission,
we desire to teach people how to apply the Word of God in their
lives so they can lead others to “observe all things whatsoever
I have commanded you.”

The SSBC Marriage Ministry exists to provide biblical
insight and relational support in order to bring couples (man and
woman) into a stronger relationship that honors God. |
Media Ministry

Men’s Ministry

The SSBC Men’s’ Ministry supports the Church’s
mission statement: To educate, equip and unite men, by the aid of
the Holy Spirit. We seek to spiritually position ourselves to edify,
and to encourage each other; to effectively evangelize and witness
to the lost; to promote personal relationships with Christ, and
to exalt the Savior. This ministry encourages men to be the spiritual
leaders in their homes, in the church and in the workplace. |
Missionary Ministry
Matthew 25:34-40 |
SSBC Missionaries promote ministry in working with
the church; to fulfill its mission to save souls for Jesus Christ
and assist them in becoming mature Christians. This ministry also
identifies community needs in housing, clothing, food, and cares
for the sick and shut-ins. |
New Members Ministry
II Corinthians 12:13-20 |
SSBC seeks to actively shepherd and assimilate
new Christians and new members into church life. We minister to
new members through an assimilation process of welcoming, mentoring,
and educating; thereby demonstrating the importance of a close and
obedient walk with the Lord and active participation in the local
church. |

Ministry

Praise and worship leaders dedicate a time of uninterrupted
praise and worship in songs, hymns and spiritual songs, allowing
people to get their focus off themselves and their circumstances,
and placed on God and His Glory. |
Scholarship Committee Ministry

The Scholarship Ministry oversees the receiving
of scholarship requests, scholarship payments and nurturing of students
attending college. The ministry encourages believers to further
their education. “My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord
Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism. But if you show favoritism,
you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.” |
Security Ministry

The SSBC security officers guard all church property
against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry or other violations
of state, county or organizational rules of misconduct; is responsible
for maintaining safe and secure grounds and buildings for SSBC ministries;
and coordinate any emergency assistance needed on SSBC property.

The SSBC Sunday Sunday School Ministry facilitates
spiritual growth and preparation in children, youth and adults to
serve Christ. |

Young Lions
Proverbs 22:6 |
Mission: The purpose of Young Lions
is to shape African-American boys into followers of Christ and leaders
of their families and communities. The Young Lions program of SSBC
is an African-American mentoring program for boys 13-18. The program
is designed to help young boys experience and work through the rites
of passage to becoming a man. The group addresses spiritual, emotional,
and social needs.
The goal of Young Lions is to teach Black boys what it means
to be African American men, spiritually, culturally, and physically.
These three dimensions of self are explored thoroughly to infuse
the boys with a strong self-image and positive self-esteem by
knowing who they are in Christ. The basic method by which this
goal will be met is to invite Christian African-American men to
engage the boys in personal relationships and thus model and teach
Black, Christian manhood to them. The Young Lions curriculum provides
a format and structure to facilitate this dynamic.

Transportation Ministry

for members and guests to and from church related ministry functions
and activities. |
Trustee Ministry

SSBC Trustees manage church property, both real
and personal, as fiduciaries. They represent SSBC in all of its
legal matters. They report to the Pastor and provide periodical
reports to the Church. The Pastor appoints spiritually mature disciples
to this ministry. |
Ushers Ministry
Psalm 84:10

At SSBC the ministry of the usher (Sr. Usher, Usher
#2, Jr. Usher) goes far beyond opening a door. The principle function
of an usher is to represent Christ to all that come to worship at
the church. In a sense, they serve as the host of the building in
which believers and strangers gather to seek God. |
Women’s Ministry

The SSBC Women’s’ Ministry supports the Church’s
